Originally founded when the university was known as Anambra State University of Science and Technology, the department was one of the initial academic units established to support COOU’s mission of providing top-tier education. Admission Requirements and Procedures
Undergraduate Admissions:
– UTME Entry: Candidates must have at least five ‘O’ level credits including English, Mathematics, and Economics, along with any one of the following: Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography, or Statistics.
– Direct Entry: Candidates should have at least two ‘A’ level passes in subjects such as Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Government, or Geography. Additionally, they must possess three ‘O’ level passes including English and Mathematics.
Postgraduate Admissions:
– Admission Policy: Candidates must be graduates of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University or other recognized universities, or hold relevant professional qualifications. Candidates without a first degree in the discipline may be admitted to a postgraduate diploma program.
– Ph.D. Program: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale. Those with lower CGPAs may be required to enroll in a Masters/Ph.D. combined program.
Admission Deferment and Transfer Procedures:
– Students admitted through UTME or Direct Entry can defer their admission under specific conditions.
– Degree transfer is possible with the approval of both the current and new departments, subject to certain conditions and availability of space.
