Associate Prof. U. S. Muogbo

Associate Prof. U. S. Muogbo is the current Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship Studies at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. She is a passionate academic and expert in entrepreneurial development, innovation management, and business strategy.

Through her dynamic leadership, the department is dedicated to cultivating entrepreneurial thinking, nurturing innovation, and providing students with practical skills to start and manage successful ventures. Her vision is to shape job creators who can drive sustainable economic growth.

Department of Entrepreneurship Studies

Established in the 2011/2012 academic session, the Department of Entrepreneurship Studies at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) is at the forefront of nurturing the next generation of business leaders and innovators.

It has evolved into a beacon of excellence, equipping graduates with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for thriving in today's competitive global economy and dynamic business environment.

Current Head of Department

Steering the department towards future goals, including introducing new ICT skills and organizing major student enterprise events, building upon the foundation laid by predecessors.

History of Leadership:

  • Prof. Ogonna Nwangene (Briefly in 2014)
  • Prof. Ndubuisi P.O (2014 - 2015)
  • Prof. Umeora E.C (2016 - 2020)
  • Prof. Orajaka Ugochukwu P. (2020 - 2024)

Each leader played a pivotal role in the department's growth, expansion of programs, accreditation successes, and development of facilities.

Milestones & Achievements

  • Successfully launched Postgraduate (MSc) program in 2020, producing 11 graduates so far.
  • Organized the first-ever COOU Carnival in 2022 showcasing student creativity.
  • Established a Driving School in collaboration with the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies.
  • Created a dedicated e-library for research students.
  • Graduated five first-class students since inception.
  • Achieved successful NUC accreditations in 2015, 2017, and 2022.
  • Actively participated in major enterprise shows/expos in Anambra State, winning prizes.
  • Produced graduates making significant impacts in various industries.

Admission Requirements

Undergraduate (UTME)
  • Minimum age of 16 years.
  • Acceptable scores in UTME.
  • Standard O'Level requirements (e.g., 5 credits including English & Maths - *implied, confirm with general university requirements*).
Direct Entry
Accepts candidates with:
  • A-level qualifications
  • National Diploma (ND)
  • Higher National Diploma (HND)
  • Diploma from a recognized institution

Deferment/Transfers: Admission deferment requires permission from university management. Transfers from other departments are possible via purchasing a change of course form.
